Simon Heath is the Principal of Heath Law which is located in Mississauga, Ontario. Simon's three core practice areas are (1) Employment Law, (2) Human Rights Law and (3) Labour Law. Simon represents his clients at all levels of court and in all administrative tribunals (please look at the Recent Cases to see a sample of Simon’s recent decisions) and he also provides strategic advice on compliance with both the Ontario and the federal statutory regimes.
Simon’s employment law practice involves all aspects of wrongful dismissal, assisting in the management of workplace disputes, preparing employment contracts and independent contractor agreements and ensuring his clients are in compliance with the every growing statutory regime governing employment in Ontario.
Simon has a particular interest in human rights and regularly represents both employers and employees at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and provides strategic advice on human rights compliance. In addition, Simon has a keen interest in assisting his clients manage medical disabilities, the duty to accommodate and age discrimination – some of the most common issues on his desk. In fact, if Simon had a crystal ball he would say that age discrimination and its related issues will be one of the most important issues in human rights law in the next five years.
Simon also has tremendous experience assisting unionized employers in both grievance arbitration and in all matters before the Ontario Labour Relations Board. Simon also routinely acts for employers and supervisors charged under Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act.
When Simon is not practicing law he can be found on the ski slopes in the Winter and training for his next marathon on a year round basis. To date Simon has completed 37 marathons and got a new Personal Best at the Steamtown Marathon in Scranton PA in the fall of 2016 with a time of 3:49. The picture to the left is Simon at the 42.1 km mark of the 2016 Hamilton Road to Hope Marathon in Hamilton, Ontario. Marathon training gives him the illusion that he can eat whatever he wants when he wants it. He's also an avid music fan (in fact a big Rolling Stones fan) and Simon is one of the only Ottawa Senators fans in the GTA given he grew up in Ottawa, Ontario.
